HP Hood.

The Hartford Courant reports that HP Hood plans to lay off 80 of the 160 workers at its Suffield, CT ice cream plant in by November. Hood cited increased competition in New England and lower demand for novelty products such as popsicles and ice cream sandwiches. Hood will continue to produce its regular ice cream for retail and bulk sales in Suffield, but will outsource the production of novelties.
