) surface-mount and 16-pin flatpack packaging. Hermetic optocouplers can be used over the -55 degree C to +125 degree C temperature range and have a storage temperature range of -65 degree C to +150 degree C. They now can be purchased as commercial products or with full MIL-PRF-38534 Class Level H or K testing, or from the appropriate Defense Supply Center Columbus (DSCC) drawing.

All HP Hi-Rel optocouplers comply with MIL-PRF-38534 Class H; most now comply with Class K. Class H and Class K devices also comply with DSCC drawings 5962-89785, 5962-89810, 5962-87679, 5962-90854, 5962-90855, 5962-89572, 5962-88769, 5962-88768, 5962-89571, 5962-89570, 5962-89477, 5962-96852; 5962-93140, 5962-97557 (Class H only); 5962-98002 (Class K only -- same device as 83204 Class H); and 5962-98001 (Class K only -- same device as 81028 Class H). The combination of shallow depth and small active-junction size produced by the HP IC process provides better radiation immunity than with conventional photo-transistor-based optocouplers. Although the devices are not considered Rad-Hard, available data from customers and government agencies indicate that they are tolerant to radiation effects.
