HP Awards More than $7 Million in Education Grants to 170 Schools Across the United States; HP Technology for Teaching Grant Promotes Student Interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

Grant recipients include 130 kindergarten kindergarten [Ger.,=garden of children], system of preschool education. Friedrich Froebel designed (1837) the kindergarten to provide an educational situation less formal than that of the elementary school but one in which children's creative play instincts would be  through 12th grade public schools and 40 two- and four-year colleges and universities. During the 2006-07 academic year, projects through this program will impact nearly 45,000 students.

The program is designed to improve student achievement through the innovative uses of technology in the classroom while encouraging student interest in careers in science, technology, engineering and math.

From 2004-2006, HP has contributed a total of $36 million in Technology for Teaching grants to more than 650 schools worldwide. Over the last 20 years, HP has contributed more than $1 billion in cash and equipment to schools, universities, community organizations and other nonprofit organizations Nonprofit Organization

Since the inception of the HP Technology for Teaching initiative, grant recipients have reported a positive influence on teaching and student learning as a result of the program.

K-12 grants

HP is awarding $4.5 million in cash and equipment to teams of five teachers at 130 K-12 public schools in the United States. Preference was given to schools serving low-income low-in·come

The award package, valued at more than $35,000 for each team, will include five HP Tablet PCs (1) A tablet computer environment from Microsoft that is based on an enhanced version of Windows XP. Designed to function more like a portable writing tablet than previous tablet-based computers, it includes handwriting recognition as well as the ability to retain handwritten words , five HP multimedia projectors, five HP digital cameras, five HP PSC (Public Service Commission) Same as PUC.  all-in-one (1) A combination computer printer, scanner, copy machine and fax machine. Some all-in-ones exclude the fax capability or make it an option.

Teachers also will participate in a professional development program led by HP's partner, the International Society for Technology in Education, during which they will receive mentoring and customized learning opportunities and will participate in an online learning community for teachers to share best practices.
