&uot;This digital camera-to-press capability is the first result of the HP and Indigo strategic alliance we created in November 1998,&uot; said Dick Lampman, vice president and director of HP Labs. &uot;Combining HP's PhotoSmart digital cameras with quality Indigo Digital Offset Color presses is a great way to show off the outstanding capabilities of both.&uot;

The live camera-to-press demonstrations will be part of Indigo's &uot;Fasten Your Seatbelt&uot; presentation at DRUPA -- a look ahead at digital printing in the New Millennium. Five times a day, for the entire 14 days of the DRUPA exhibition, members of the audience in Indigo's 300seat theater will become active participants in the industry's first large-scale, live photo-personalization demonstration.

&uot;Digital photography will replace conventional photography just as digital printing will replace conventional printing,&uot; said Benny Landa, Indigo's chairman and chief executive officer. &uot;The HP and Indigo demonstration of the power of digital camera-to-press capabilities will give DRUPA visitors an insight into tomorrow's world Tomorrow's World was a long-running BBC television series, showcasing new (and often wacky) developments in the world of science and technology. First aired in 1965, it ran for 38 years until it was axed at the beginning of 2003, ostensibly because of falling ratings.  of digital image capture and reproduction to which HP and Indigo are committed.&uot;

At DRUPA, pictures of visitors will be captured on HP PhotoSmart digital cameras, combined in real-time with personalized text and other images using Indigo SNAP (Swift Native Accelerated Personalization) technology, and printed on Indigo Digital Offset Color presses. The products will include portraits, brochures and audio CDs. Approximately 20,000 DRUPA visitors are expected to participate in Indigos &uot;Fasten Your Seatbelt&uot; experience.
