Electromagnetic-immunity tests help determine whether or not an electronic device will operate safely and at full function in the presence of other electronic devices. Examples of consumer products requiring compliance include home appliances, entertainment electronics, computers and peripherals, security systems, lamps and electronic toys.

The European Union has mandated that consumer-electronics products must pass radiated- and conducted-electromagnetic-immunity tests and possess a proper conformity mark before they are marketed in the 15 European Union countries.
