HOWTEK INTRODUCES ENHANCED VERSION OF COLORSCAN PRE-PRESS PRODUCTION SYSTEM
    AT GRAPH EXPO EAST
    HUDSON, N.H., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Howtek, Inc. (AMEX: HTK) announced today the upgrade of the Colorscan pre-press system to the new 486/66 MHz platform.  The move to this faster processor will provide system speed increases up to 50 percent on average and allow customers to significantly increase their daily pre-press production output. In addition, Colorscan now provides the ability to access Windows programs directly from the Colorscan menu so that users can quickly transfer into windows and back to Colorscan without exiting the Colorscan program.  In conjunction with this new Windows feature, Howtek will be bundling the page make-up and design software package, QuarkXpress for Windows, when released, with the Colorscan system.  The enhanced Colorscan system also includes a high resolution 1024x768, 32-bit display monitor allowing the designer and operator greater visual control and scanning support for the Howtek Scanmaster(tm) D4000 high resolution drum scanner, David Bothwell, president of Howtek said "The integration of the Windows based version of QuarkXpress into Colorscan will provide a pre-press solution that combines the user friendly graphical interface of the popular page design and composition software with the superior production speed of the 486/66 MHz Colorscan platform."
    Demonstrations of the new colorscan system will be available in the Howtek booth  936 at the Graph Expo East in New York City, Oct. 3-6.
    Howtek was founded in 1984 by its Chairman Robert Howard, who was also founder of Centronics Data Computer Corporation in 1969 and co- founder of Presstek, Inc. in 1987.
