HOWTEK ANNOUNCES DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT WITH IMAGING ASSOCIATES FOR SCANMASTER(TM) DX

HUDSON, N.H., May 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Howtek, Inc. (Nasdaq-NNM: HOWT) announced today that Imaging Associates, Inc. of Fort Mill, SC has signed a distribution agreement for the sale of Howtek Scanmaster DX X-ray film digitizers and has placed a blanket order for the product. The agreement calls for Imaging Associates to distribute the DX in the southeast region of the country through their direct sales force. Imaging Associates is a leading distributor of medical equipment to hospitals and radiological group practices and represents some of the largest manufacturers in the industry including Sony Medical Systems, Toshiba and Mitsubishi. Michael Masterman, President of Imaging Associates, commented, "We selected the Scanmaster DX because of its superior technology, Howtek's history with scanners and because of price/performance unequaled in the industry."

The Scanmaster DX is a high resolution X-ray film digitizer that incorporates the latest advancement in high definition CCD technology. The 12-bit definition resolving power of the DX delivers precise detail and uncompromising quality in digitally reproduced radiographs. The Scanmaster DX accommodates 14" by 17" originals and is designed for high reliability and rugged operating environments. The digitizer captures images at variable resolutions up to 8K lines and features a 3.4 maximum optical density.

Howtek was founded in 1984 by Robert Howard. Howtek designs, engineers and manufacturers, for sale throughout the world, flatbed and drum scanners for the graphic arts and desktop publishing markets, densitometers for the life sciences market, and film digitizers for the medical imaging market.
