New stores: Always looking for new shopping venues, Miz Hot Tips learned that Old Town Calabasas has several. They include Clay Cafe Old Town, a pottery and crafts studio; Havana Banana Cigar Co. with a cigar lounge; Mount Everest Tea Co. with a European tearoom; and Saturday Morning Cartoon Co., where you can find animation collectibles. The mall, by the way, also has a Farmers Market from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today.

Beauty beat: The retro craze continues at department-store cosmetic counters. At the Chanel counter, Miz Hot Tips spotted creamy pastel eye shadows in a wand called Ombre Creme Satin Eye Colour and Lumiere Neon, a lip-gloss compact of neon shades of violet, pink gold and peach ... and over at Yves St. Laurent, there's a wowie new collection of colorful lipsticks that have plenty of coverage like a traditional lipstick, with an addition of gloss to the formula. To get that transparent trend across, YSL has put them in clear tubes so you can see the color you're buying. It works swell, and doesn't bleed like most glosses, which is great for boomers suffering from those tiny lines around the mouth.

At the Trish McEvoy counter, check out the new self-tanning spray. It's nongreasy and colors quickly, but has no sunscreens. Be sure you don't spray on carpeting, as it stains.

It looks familiar: Hallmark can't be happy about this, but Earth Day supporters should love it. Window whiz: When you have dead spiders splattered on your attic windows and you can hardly see the sky because of all the grime (no that's not haze), it's time to wash the windows. Since it's been so long since you last did it, you no longer need a ladder. There's a new series of products from Armor All, called E-Z Spray Window Wash that includes a sprayer to attach to the garden hose, which eliminates ladders, spray bottles, brushes and buckets. It's $7.99 at home improvement centers.
