HOT TIPS : EAT, DRINK AND BE FESTIVE.

Fiesta Ware, that brightly colored, art deco-designed tableware that first appeared on Grandma's table in 1936, is making a comeback. This generation of the rainbow-colored, concentric-ringed dinnerware includes all the accessories that Grandma would have loved to have, but which weren't even a gleam in a designer's eye more than 60 years ago.

Through licensing agreements with more than a dozen companies, Fiesta Ware maker Homer Laughlin China Co. now offers kitchen and dining room doodads that range from retro toasters and ice crushers to drawer pulls, spice racks and thermal gravy servers.

Right from the start, a major attraction of Fiesta Ware - in addition to its sturdiness and its sleek design - was its mix-and-matchability. Instead of buying a set of all-the-same-color dishes, housewives could mix a chartreuse chartreuse (shärtrz`), liqueur made exclusively by Carthusians at their monastery, La Grande Chartreuse, France, until their expulsion in 1903.  dinner plate, a pink salad plate, a blue cup and a yellow saucer for a table full of color and surprise.

The dinnerware was reintroduced in 1982 in colors of black, white, apricot, rose and cobalt blue. The new accessories are also available in persimmon persimmon: see ebony.

``The Smoothies Deck'' (Chronicle Books; $12.95), a playing card-sized collection of 50 smoothie recipes, aims to make whipping up a smoothie a ... well, smoother ... operation. The deck of cards is protected by a sturdy, wipeable covering, so they're right at home in the kitchen or bar.

You could even make a party game of drawing a card and making whichever mixture is on the card.

Some sound mighty tasty. And once you have the ingredients all lined up, the drinks are also pretty easy to make - just put in a blender (or, for some, a food processor) and blend until smooth.
