It's not enough to pay tribute to a star by going to a movie. In this town you've got to have something that belonged to a star or was used by his or her character proudly displayed in your home.

It can be anything from a table to a toaster, Miz Hot Tips learned in looking at a list of stuff from Marlene Dietrich's New York apartment that goes on the auction block Nov. 1.

You know Dietrich, she's the femme fatale who became famous in her role of the heartless cabaret singer in the 1931 film ``Blue Angel.'' And among the items to be sold by Sotheby's at 9665 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills, are a French Provincial dining table that was a gift from Ernest Hemingway, a Noel Coward painting, a piano on which Burt Bacharach often composed, and a bunch of household items like a cocktail shaker, travel clock and a little wooden plaque that hung in her kitchen.

Even if you don't have big bucks, you can still get a peek at the star's belongings during public viewing from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 28-31.

Still designing: Delta Burke, the voluptuous Southern beauty from TV's ``Designing Women,'' may not be doing much on the screen, but she's still got us in stitches. Miz Hot Tips is talking about the sewing machine kind. Instead of the usual missy-to-the-max party tents, Burke has zeroed in on plus-size prom dresses that will let every girl find a dream dress for the prom. Look for Burke's Onyx Nite collection soon in department stores, priced at $90 to $190.
