It's summer - and time to fry your skin in the name of fashion. But before you butter your bod, listen up. According to hunky ``Baywatch'' star Jose Solano, you're supposed to ``Slip! Slop! Slap!''

Solano, the new spokesman for the American Cancer Society Skin Protection Federation, is asking sun worshipers to slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen (SPF 15 and higher) and slap on a hat. He also suggests avoiding the midday sun - it's the most damaging to your skin.

Now, if you want to fake it, try Origins Summer Vacation, the all-natural cosmetic company's first fake tanning cream, priced at $17.50. It gives a golden glow on darker complexions but looks a tad fake (dark) on pale ``Snow White'' skin. And for that sun-streaked look in your hair without bleach, Origins has introduced Change Your Locks hair-streaking sticks in such colors as Golden, Honey and Bronze, priced at $14. Miz Hot Tips discovered it's not a mascara wand but a giant pencil that you get wet and glide directly onto the hair, and it stays put until you wash it out. It's cool.

While you're working on your tan (fake or otherwise), you'll have time to read something that requires no brain power, since it's mostly pictures. It's ``The Brewer Twins: Double Take'' (Universe; $17.95) by Derek and Keith Brewer, the Redondo Beach surfer boys who became supermodels.

Forget Starbucks: Hate spending big bucks for the taste of lattes to linger on your lips? The Bare Escentuals shops (there's one at Topanga Plaza in Canoga Park), have a nifty idea called Buzz Latte for Lips. It's a sheer gloss that smells and tastes like coffee, because it's made with real coffee, priced at $12.

If you just want the look of iced mocha, with vitamins A and E added to soothe dry lips, try Trucco's new Ice Queen by Trucco (a division of Sebastian International), priced at $6.50.

On the down side: Maybe you've been buzzing all day at the office, and what you're really looking for is a luxurious downer. To chase the office demons out of your mind, try Bare Escentuals' new Peace and Quiet foaming bath and body balm for $10. Miz Hot Tips soaked in it and found it swell, especially with soft violin music and a glass of valpolicella. But that's up to you.

An alternative is Connie Stevens' new executive day spa and boutique called the Garden Sanctuary, which opens today at 426 S. Robertson Blvd., Los Angeles. The bubbly singer-actress from the '60s and '70s (and mom of actress Joely Fisher) has done so well in the cosmetics business on the Home Shopping Network that she decided to have her own place, offering relaxing herbal and aromatherapy body wraps and massages, fake tan applications and reflexology treatments. Babe watch: So, you've mowed the lawn and scrubbed the toilets. Now you're ready for some fun at the mall? Take note that the Fresh Faces Model Search begins at noon today at Bloomingdale's in the Beverly Center, and the celebrity judges are Channon Roe of ``Can't Hardly Wait'' and Jason Young of ``The Bold and the Beautiful.'' Kiddie fun: Does your little angel have a birthday coming up? Songs such as ``Pool Party'' and ``Pinata Party'' will liven things up, and you'll find them included in the new CD release ``You're Invited to Mary Kate & Ashley's Birthday Party.'' It's about $16 at the usual music outlets.
