Palmdale's Jackson going to Chico State

Palmdale center Joshua Jackson has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at Chico State next year.

The Falcons standout is a two-time All-Golden League First Team selection. He led the league averaging foursteals per game while averaging 12.5 points and 6.8rebounds.

"Josh is a talented athlete, who played center in high school, but will play the threeor four position in our program," Chico State coach Puck Smith said in a statement. "He has great instincts and plays with great energy and passion."

Jackson led the Falcons to a 21-6 record this season and to a first-round playoff appearance.

Chaminade boys are fencing champs

Fencing is not a common sport among high school athletic programs, but at Chaminade of West Hills, it's a championship sport.

The Eagles boys' fencing team took first places in twocategories at the California Fencing championships held at Monroe of North Hills earlier this month.

Chaminade placed first in boys' foil and epee. The girls' team took fourth in epee and sixth in foil with the help of Rajat Gupta Rajat Kumar Gupta (Hindi: रजत कुमार गुप्त; born Calcutta, India on December 2, 1948) is the current special advisor on management reforms to the Secretary-General of the United Nation. , Iesha Zimdahl and Natalie Herrera. The boys' championship team is comprised of Chris Pinkowski, David Singontiko, Chris Cashdan, Gil Hauser and Gavin Daly.

Harvard-Westlake of Studio City took first place in men's saber and ninth in Foil.
