Softball player Brianna Jorgensborg of La Reina High of Thousand Oaks has signed with Notre Dame. Jorgensborg batted .571 with eight HRs and 49 RBIs as a junior.

Wife of Lugo dies

Nancy Lugo, the wife of Canoga Park High football coach Rudy Lugo, died last week. Rudy Lugo has battled lung cancer lung cancer, cancer that originates in the tissues of the lungs. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States in both men and women. Like other cancers, lung cancer occurs after repeated insults to the genetic material of the cell.  for nearly a year. He went into remission about a month ago. Funeral services are pending. Oaks Christian gets $500,000 donation

Younan Properties, a Los Angeles-based real estate investment corporation, is donating $500,000 to Oaks Christian High of Westlake Village.

The money will fund several projects on campus and upgrades to the school's athletic facilities including bleachers for the baseball field, synthetic turf for the football field and lighting for the aquatic complex.

In honor of the donation, Oaks Christian will name its basketball and volleyball court, "Younan Court."

Hunters still in pursuit of No. 1

After completing the first unbeaten season in program history with Saturday's 3-1 victory in the City Section final, Canoga Park's boys' soccer team (24-0-1) remained the nation's second-ranked team in the latest Student Sports National Fab 50 poll, trailing Kingwood High (19-0-1) of Humble, Texas.

Loyola of Los Angeles (26-6-4) is ranked No. 12 and St. Francis of La Canada Flintridge (25-5) is No. 42.
