The Lions also produced the second-highest point total (797) in state history, trailing Bloomington's 880 points in 14 games in 1994.

With its 27-20 overtime victory Saturday over Cardinal Newman Saturday, Oaks Christian also tied the Southern Section record of 46 consecutive victories, held by Temple City and Canyon of Canyon Country. The winning streak Noun 1. winning streak - a streak of wins

Knox receives another award: Birmingham of Lake Balboa junior running back Milton Knox, who was already selected City Player of the Year by the section's coaches, was unanimously chosen Monday as the City's top player by a panel of Southern California sportswriters.

Knox, who scored 29 touchdowns and set a school record with 2,374 yards to lead the Patriots to their third City title in five years, joined teammates Henry Lui, J.J. Make way for Royal-D: Royal of Simi Valley's boys' soccer team has scored 25 goals through 10games, led by 12 goals from junior Paris Figueroa, but the overshadowed source of the Highlanders' success has been their defense.

Royal (8-2) has posted six shutouts, including its fourth in a row Monday in a 3-0 victory over Marmonte League rival Thousand Oaks. The Highlanders allowed just two goals en route to claiming the championship at last week's La Canada tournament. Both of Royal's losses have been 1-0. The Highlanders look to continue their shutout streak tonight when they play at Moorpark.

No points, no problem: Flintridge Sacred Heart of La Canada Flintridge's girls' basketball team recorded a 48-21 victory Monday over Bishop Conaty-Loretto of Los Angeles in the opening round of the Providence tournament.

What was so impressive about the performance was the Tologs (4-3) got the win without scoring in the second quarter. Flintridge Sacred Heart, which plays Arrowhead Christian of Redlands at 6:30 p.m. today, scored 15 each in the first and third quarters and added 18 in the fourth.

Bishop Conaty-Loretto (2-8) didn't reach 15 points until the end of three quarters.
