HOSPITAL HOLDING CANCER SYMPOSIUM.

VALENCIA - More than 100 medical professionals ranging from physicians to midwives are expected today at a symposium on breast cancer sponsored by Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital.

The target of the daylong symposium is mid-level caregivers who will learn more about breast cancer from a group of breast cancer experts affiliated with the hospital's year-old Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center.

 care,'' said Dr. Gregory Senofsky, founder and surgical director of the breast institute and author of ``The Patient's Guide to Outstanding Breast Cancer Care.''

The symposium, at 8 a.m. at the Hyatt Valencia, was touted as the first of its kind in the greater Los Angeles area The Greater Los Angeles Area, or the Southland, is the agglomeration of urbanized area around the city of Los Angeles, California, United States. There are two "official" definitions—the Los Angeles metropolitan area consisting only of the Los Angeles and Orange  to focus on educating mid-level caregivers, particularly nurse practitioners. Check-in is at 7:30 a.m.

Oncologist John Barstis will address chemotherapy; Dr. Alexander Black, hormone replacement; and Judith Harris, the psychological and emotional implications of breast cancer.
