``It's unbelievable when you get into something like this how much fun racing can be. We're going to try to win this thing and have a lot of fun doing it - and hopefully get a sponsor so we can run the full season.''

It was the first time the Hart High graduate has driven the team's LMP- 01 entry in rain conditions.

``It was certainly handy to get some experience in a wide variety of conditions because that is what I am going to face throughout the year,'' Herta said. ``If we get a race like Le Mans last year, the wet-weather experience will certainly be very beneficial.''

The 24 Hours of Le Mans was run under rainy conditions last year. But wet-weather conditions have not slowed Team Panoz, which won the Nurburgring event in Germany in wet conditions last year.

Even though Herta was able to turn some laps in the rain, the wet weather eventually made the track undriveable.

``We didn't get to run as many laps as we would have liked because it actually became too wet at the end of the day,'' Herta said. ``We were actually waiting for the rain to try the wets, but it really came down hard - apparently there were flash-flood warnings announced for the area.''

The American Le Mans Series will start March 13 with the 12 Hours of Sebring in Florida.
