HORIZONS Foundation Awards Scholarships.


The HORIZONS Scholarship Foundation recently announced its scholarship awards. Recipients included:

* Dana Carolyn Paquin Davidson College

Major: Mathematics

* Kelly Marie Truver

Georgia Institute of Technology Georgia Institute of Technology, in Atlanta, Ga.; coeducational; state supported; chartered 1885, opened 1888. It is a member school in the university system of Georgia. Significant among its facilities and programs are the Frank H.  

Major: Operations Research

* Sara J. Gulp

University of Denver Background and rankings
The University was founded in 1864 as Colorado Seminary by John Evans, the former Territorial Governor of Colorado, who had been appointed by US President Abraham Lincoln.

HORIZONS scholarships are awarded to candidates demonstrating significant leadership potential in the fields of science Fields of science are widely-recognized categories of specialized expertise within science, and typically embody their own terminology and nomenclature.

Natural sciences

Main article: Natural science
, engineering and international affairs as they relate to national security and business disciplines. Our goals are to maintain the competitiveness of the United States and to ensure its national security. In order to accomplish these goals, HORIZONS seeks to:

* Support undergraduate students financially and encourage them to seek careers in national security fields.

* Provide funding for continuing education for those currently in the national security work force.

* Develop women leaders in national security organizations through education and peer support.

* Encourage women to pursue educational opportunities in technical fields of study.

Scholarships are awarded to applicants who require financial assistance and demonstrate both strong academic credentials and a commitment to a career in national security.

 manager in the Investigations and Analysis Directorate, Office of the Special Assistant to the Deputy Secretary of Defense, Personnel and Readiness, for Gulf War illnesses, medical readiness and military deployments. The foundation is a tax-exempt, non-profit organization, established in 1987 under IRS An abbreviation for the Internal Revenue Service, a federal agency charged with the responsibility of administering and enforcing internal revenue laws.  code 501(c)(3). Courtney Banks, of Digital Privacy Incorporated, serves as scholarship director. The HORIZONS Committee is made up of dedicated volunteers, who administer the program and raise funds. Generally, HORIZONS holds two fundraisers per year and conducts an annual giving drive.
