HORIZON AIR TO SERVE REDDING, CALIF.

HORIZON AIR TO SERVE REDDING, CALIF.
SEATTLE, Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Horizon Air announced today it will

begin service to Redding, Calif., and improve service to Klamath Falls, Medford and Eugene, Ore., starting Nov. 22.
Horizon will offer four daily flights between Redding and Portland, allowing travellers to bypass connections through the Bay Area when flying between Northern California and the Pacific Northwest. Flights will be operated with 18-seat Metro III turbo props, and each will make one intermediate stop in either Klamath Falls, Eugene or Salem, Ore.
The new flights will be available for sale starting Oct. 17, at which time exact flight schedules and fares will have been finalized.
The Redding area, and Chico/Red Bluff as well, currently have no direct northbound service. Air travel time between Redding and Portland, which takes about four hours and involves a connection through the Bay Area, will be cut in half when Horizon's new service begins. Once in Portland, where Horizon operates one of its four hubs, Northern Californians will have easier access for flights to Seattle; Boise, Idaho; Spokane, Wash.; Billings, Mont.; Vancouver, British Columbia; and many other Northwest cities served by Horizon.
Also at Portland, travellers can make convenient connections to the flights of Horizon's sister company, Alaska Airlines, and marketing partner Northwest Airlines. Alaska offers northbound service from Portland directly to the state of Alaska. Northwest flies non-stop from Portland to its Minneapolis and Detroit hubs and is a major U.S. carrier to Asia.
Starting Nov. 22 as well, Klamath Falls-Portland service will greatly improve when all of Horizon's five daily flights will be operated as non-stops. Currently, four of its five flights on the route make an intermediate stop.
Elsewhere, Medford will pick up a ninth flight to Portland and Eugene an eighth flight to Portland. The new Medford and Eugene service will be operated with Dash 8 and Metro III equipment, respectively, and will improve local and connecting service to and from the two Oregon communities.
Horizon Air serves 35 cities throughout five states and British Columbia and Alberta. Horizon Air and Alaska Airlines are wholly owned subsidiaries of Alaska Air Group Inc. (NYSE: ALK; PSE).
