Byline: Susan Abram Staff Writer

The U.S. Coast Guard called off the search for a Burbank man and his nephew two days after their boat was found floating off Bolsa Chica State Beach Bolsa Chica State Beach is a public beach managed by the California Department of Parks and Recreation. It is located in Orange County, city of Huntington Beach.

The State Beach is a popular place for surf fishing.
in Orange County, officials said Tuesday.

Hyong Kum Kim, 46, of Burbank and his nephew Dae Kye Kim, 35, of Pasadena were declared missing after their 22-foot Aqua Sport motor boat was abandoned at 4 p.m. Sunday.

The men had gone fishing that morning off Huntington Beach Huntington Beach, city (1990 pop. 181,519), Orange co., S Calif., on the Pacific coast, across from Santa Catalina Island, in an oil-producing area; inc. 1909. Lifeguards who searched the boat on Sunday found keys to the craft, two cell phones and Dae Kye Kim's wallet, as well as fishing apparatus, said Coast Guard Petty Officer Louis Herbert.

``The motor started with no problem, so they didn't detect anything ... wrong with the boat,'' Herbert said.

Hyong Kum Kim's 16-year-old son, Steve Kim Steve Kim (born April 16 1977[1]) is a Korean-American hip hop artist who is a member of the Korean hip-hop group Uptown. ``Sadly, we have not been able to locate them,'' Herbert said. ``Our thoughts and prayers at this time are with the family.''

A land search continues along the coast. Lifeguards from Seal, Newport, Sunset Canyon, Huntington and Bolsa Chica beaches will continue to monitor the coastline, said State Park Service Lifeguard Supervisor Joe Milligan.

``We've gone from a rescue operation to recovery mode,'' Milligan said. ``We will search until we cannot search anymore.''
