HONORED TEACHER TO BE SEEN ON STYLE NETWORK SPECIAL.

Lhani van Lamsweerde, tapped as Teacher of the Year by her colleagues at Nestle Avenue Elementary School elementary school: see school.  in Tarzana, will be featured on a Style Network program highlighting her work with special-education students.

``I really love teaching my special-ed kids, and I love filling in the holes of what they're missing and seeing it click,'' said van Lamsweerde, who will appear on ``You're Invited,'' airing at 9:30 p.m. Aug. 5.

Van Lamsweerde incorporates art into all subjects, including science, math, music and social studies. For a project on dinosaurs, students created a time line using 2,000 feet of adding machine tape, with every seven inches covering 5 million years.

``By the time we got to the dinosaurs, it was the end of the tape, so the kids drew dinosaurs and drew what the Earth looked like at that time,'' van Lamsweerde said.

Art Simon of Glendale, a communications lecturer California State University, Los Angeles California State University, Los Angeles (also known as Cal State L.A., CSULA, or "'CSLA"') is a public university, part of the California State University system. , received four Telly Awards for two recent videos.

``Living the Legacy'' won a Silver Telly for nonbroadcast film/video and TV programs in the public relations public relations, activities and policies used to create public interest in a person, idea, product, institution, or business establishment. By its nature, public relations is devoted to serving particular interests by presenting them to the public in the most  category and the bronze award in the fund-raising category.

``Chemistry: A Legacy of Excellence,'' directed by Simon and fellow professor Alan Bloom of Shadow Hills won two Bronze Tellys in the public relations and fund-raising categories.

Shannon Starr, a deaf studies student at California State University, Northridge CSUN offers a variety of programs leading to bachelor's degrees in 61 fields and master's degrees in 42 fields. The university has over 150,000 alumni. It's also home to a summer musical theater/theater program known as TADW (TeenAge Drama Workshop) that leads teenagers through an , recently received a $3,000 William Randolph Hearst/CSU Trustees Award Scholarship.

Starr will attended the university's graduate program in linguistics. She plans to become a university professor teaching deaf studies and sign language.

Eden Hanish, a 12-year-old student at The Alexandria Academy in Agoura Hills, won $1,500 in a statewide essay contest sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Police The Fraternal Order of Police is a US-based organization of sworn law enforcement officers. It is the world's largest organization of rank and file sworn officers, with over 2100 local lodges and over 325,000 members.  for her essay titled ``Why Is Integrity Important?''

The organization is committed to improving working conditions of law enforcement officers.

Victor Meyerson of Van Nuys High School Van Nuys High School (VNHS) established in 1914, is a high school in the Van Nuys area of Los Angeles, California, belonging to the Los Angeles Unified School District: District 2.  captured second place in the essay category of the Robert H. Herndon Memorial Science Competition. He received a $200 savings bond Savings bond
