HONEYWELL AND CONSILIUM FORM STRATEGIC ALLIANCE TO INTEGRATE CONTROL, MANUFACTURING EXECUTION SYSTEMS

 PHOENIX, Ariz., April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Honeywell Industrial Automation and Control, a division of Honeywell Inc. (NYSE: HON), and Consilium Inc. (NASDAQ: CSIM) today announced a strategic alliance to provide a unified manufacturing execution and control system. This system combines Honeywell control systems, including the TDC3000X(TM) industrial automation system and Modular Automation System(TM), with FlowStream(R), Consilium's manufacturing execution systems (MES) software for the process industries.
 Leaders in their respective industries, Honeywell and Consilium are unifying their systems to help manufacturers:
 -- attain consistent product quality;
 -- comply with regulatory requirements;
 -- reduce time to market;
 -- reduce production costs.
 Under the terms of the agreement, Honeywell and Consilium will have an exclusive relationship in the development of a unified manufacturing execution and control system. Honeywell will market the system in the chemical industry and other process-based industries as part of its TotalPlant(TM) open solutions.
 By unifying process control and manufacturing execution systems, Honeywell and Consilium are providing the full spectrum of information the operator needs to control product quality, comply with government regulations and maintain efficient operations. At the same time, this unified solution brings real-time process and production information to personnel in materials management, quality assurance, maintenance, customer satisfaction, production planning and scheduling to support activities required to achieve business objectives.
 "The Honeywell/Consilium system is a key component of our TotalPlant open solutions, which help customers integrate production, process and field management systems throughout the plant or mill," said Ed Hurd, president of Honeywell Industrial. "By extending the customer's visibility and scope of control from the process to all of the elements that affect production, this system will provide the capabilities our customers need to ensure a competitive edge."
 "As leaders in our respective fields, we have taken the leadership position in providing a single MES and controls system to help customers achieve their objectives in quality, scheduling, safety and regulatory compliance," said Thomas Tomasetti, Consilium's president and chief executive officer.
 Consilium's FlowStream software integrates the entire production process to provide access to information about all facets of the manufacturing operation in real time. The FlowStream product coordinates process or step instructions with the collection of data throughout the facility, from the lab to packaging, for both manual and automated operations. It also provides manufacturing management applications such as reporting, quality and scheduling.
 The Honeywell TDC3000X industrial automation system addresses the operation and control requirements of continuous and batch operations. It provides regulatory and logic control as well as advanced control for process optimization and reduced unit costs. The Modular Automation system supports control requirements of continuous, batch and discrete operations. It is scalable for applications ranging from a single unit to a single line to an entire plant.
 Both TDC 3000X system and Modular Automation System will work with FlowStream software to provide effective production management by controlling the process to FlowStream specifications and reporting actual process conditions to the manufacturing execution system.
