HONDA NAMED NO. 1 IN OWNER LOYALTY FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR

TORRANCE, Calif., May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- For the third consecutive year Honda has been named No. 1 in Owner Loyalty among all major automobile brands. The announcement was made by R.L. Polk & Co., an independent research firm that tracks automobile sales by new car registrations and title applications. Honda was also named No. 1 in Import Owner Loyalty, a title it has held for the past 16 consecutive years.
According to R.L. Polk & Co.'s leading Automobile Sales Analysis, owner loyalty is the percentage of car owners who purchased a new automobile of the same make as their previous vehicle. During the 1992 model year, 40 percent of Honda owners looking for a new car purchased another Honda automobile.
Richard Colliver, senior vice president, Honda Division said, "Again, we are pleased with the Owner Loyalty results. The survey reconfirms that Honda owners are happy with their Honda ownership experience. Blending top-quality products with superb dealership service instills confidence in the customer's next automobile purchase."
Honda currently offers a complete line of quality automobiles that includes the Accord Sedan, Coupe and Wagon, the Civic Sedan, Hatchback and Coupe, the open-top Civic del Sol and the sporty Prelude.
More than 73 percent of the Honda Division automobiles sold in the United States in 1992 were manufactured in North America. In addition, Honda exported more than 55,000 U.S.-made automobiles to 18 nations around the world in 1992. More than 10,000 Americans are employed at Honda's U.S. manufacturing plants in Ohio, where the Accord Sedan and Civic Sedan are produced. The Accord Coupe and Wagon, and the Civic Coupe are manufactured exclusively in North America.
