Westlake Village-based Homestore's Realtor.com, the official Web site of the National Association of Realtors The National Association of Realtors (NAR) is made up of residential and commercial realtors who are brokers, salespeople, property managers, appraisers, and counselors, and others working in the real estate industry. , will now be the exclusive provider of all home listings and real estate content for MSN's House & Home channel.

Terms of the deal were not announced but Homestore's content, including 1 million properties, should be on the MSN (1) (MicroSoft Network) A family of Internet-based services from Microsoft, which includes a search engine, e-mail (Hotmail), instant messaging (Windows Live Messaging) and a general-purpose portal with news, information and shopping (MSN Directory).  site before the end of the first quarter. The expansion is key because previously owned homes make up most of the home selling market.

Homestore Chief Executive Officer Mike Long said that last year more than 70 percent of homebuyers used the Internet at some point in their search. And he noted that MSN's House & Home outlet is a popular resource.

``Today, most consumers are using the Internet as an integral part of their home-search process,'' he said in a statement.

basis depending on how the spots sell, said spokeswoman Erin K. Campbell.

MSN is keen on the partnership, too.

``With its extensive home listings and Realtor directory, Realtor.com was an obvious choice for rich vertical content to power the 'Buying A Home' portion of our House & Home channel,'' Lisa Gurry gur·ry

in Nashville, Tenn., said the deal boxes the Internet world compass for Homestore. The company already provides content to AOL (A division of Time Warner, Inc., New York, NY, www.aol.com) The world's largest online information service with access to the Internet, e-mail, chat rooms and a variety of databases and services.  and Yahoo.

``I think it's pretty strong news. This really gives them the largest portion of the market,'' he said of the announcement.

The most appealing part of the deal is the revenue-sharing aspect, Gristina said. This model can be used when the AOL and Yahoo contracts come up for renewal.

``In my opinion, it's a revenue positive for Homestore,'' he said.

The deal with MSN should also help Homestore sell the product to real estate agents.

Homestore is conducting seminars throughout the country to promote its products.

``It adds value to the product they are offering,'' Gristina said.
