HOLLYWOOD RENTAL CO. RAISES ITS BANNER IN MEXICO

 BURBANK, Calif., Feb. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Matthews Studio Equipment Group (NASDAQ: MATT), Burbank, announced that it has signed a Letter of Intent for its wholly owned subsidiary, Hollywood Rental Co. Inc. ("HRC") to enter into a joint venture agreement with Trata Films of Mexico City.
 Trata Films, S.A. is the exclusive agent and supplier of all Panavision cameras, lenses and accessories servicing Mexico. Panavision cameras are the most popular camera systems used by theatrical and television feature film makers.
 The joint venture will provide all of the rental production equipment, consisting of lights, grip equipment, generators, cables, expendable supplies, lighting trucks and associated equipment needs of local, foreign and American production companies shooting in Mexico. The joint venture will be conducted under the name of Hollywood Rental Co. of Mexico and Expendable Supply Store of Mexico, under an exclusive license from HRC, and will be managed by the principal owner, of Trata Films, Eduardo De La Barcena, as president.
 Matthews will contribute approximately $600,000 to the joint venture.
 Management noted that this joint venture will take advantage of the benefits of the North American Free Trade Agreement and will greatly expand the company's market presence in the growing Mexican center of the production of films and commercials.
 Matthews Studio Equipment Group designs, manufactures, sells and rents grip, camera and lighting support equipment for the film, television, commercial photography and theatrical production industries worldwide. In addition the company designs, manufactures and rents its proprietary electromechanical Cam-Remote(R) Systems.
