HOLLYWOOD HAUTE; LATESTS TRENDS IN FASHION STEP STRAIGHT OFF THE SILVER SCREEN.

Movies make stars, but they also make fashion statements.

Consider the film ``Titanic'' and that dazzling ``Heart of the Sea'' necklace. It's being knocked off all over town, and it's ditto with the dresses. Numerous designers, including California Designer of the Year nominee Judy Rabineau of Mica, have their own version of ``Titanic'' costumes scheduled to hit stores by September.

Meanwhile, ``The Avengers'' opened Friday, and with it come a slew of '60s styles that Jackie O probably didn't wear.

In this big-screen return of secret agents John Steed This article is about the fictional character. For the author of a genealogy program, see Brother's Keeper (software).
John Steed is a fictional character, played by Patrick Macnee, on the British series The Avengers and The New Avengers.
and Emma Peel Emma Peel was a fictional television spy played by Diana Rigg in the British 1960s adventure series The Avengers. She was born Emma Knight, the daughter of an industrialist, Sir John Knight.  (played by Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman), costume designer Anthony Powell gives us sleek black catsuits that are sure to be a hit by Christmas, especially with high-heeled boots (already spotted at Macy's).

shades Thurman's character wears? You won't need to wait for a knock-off. They're by Calvin Klein, and available at Sunglass Hut stores for $85.

Fans of ``Ever After'' will have to dig deeper in their pockets.

Those ``glass'' slippers worn by Drew Barrymore as Cinderella are exquisitely beaded mules designed by Italian shoemaker Salvatore Ferragamo, with a $2,500 price tag. Even at that price, and a six-week waiting list, a Ferragamo spokeswoman says there's a waiting list. FYI "For your information." See digispeak.

FYI - For Your Information
: Cinderella's custom-order shoes feature 200 silver pearls, 1,000 tiny glass beads and meters of silver thread.

In this case, if you've got the money, you can make the shoe fit.

To order, call (800) 822-1956, or go to the Ferragamo boutique on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, where the shoe's on display until the end of the month.

For Barrymore's tiny braids and wavy mane, check out your local mall. Many have carts selling ready-made synthetic braids and hairpieces.

However, if you're going for the look in a serious way, try the Dean Rhodes Salon of Beverly Hills. They'll create a replica of Barrymore's romantic medieval style for about $50 (depending on the length of your hair), and also make custom-blended hair pieces if you've got short hair.

The easiest Cinderella trend to try is the glossy glitter on Barrymore's face when she goes off to the ball. It's $25 at the Chanel counter; less expensive variations (less than $10 for a small jar) also are available at accessory stores around town.

is ``Dance With Me,'' which features competition ballroom dresses with Swarovski crystal beads.

Although it's not featured in the film, Swarovski created a special retro-style ``Dance With Me'' choker made of tiny pearls and pave crystals in a platinumlike setting, $125 at most department stores.

Although they're not designed specifically for ballroom dancing, designers such as Gucci, Prada and Givenchy have gowns with sparkle in their fall collections.

Even ``BASEketball,'' a stupid sports spoof, has a fashion angle.
