SMIG produces 35 trade magazine titles and related directories, newsletters and Web sites for professionals in 16 different industry segments. Specifically, this covers the acquisition of spare parts and replacements, quality control of purchasing and ordering such parts, and the standards involved in ordering, , Machinery & Equipment and Canadian Plastics.

Hollinger said the unit is still for sale and that it has retained Morgan Stanley To comply with Wikipedia's , the introduction of this article needs a complete rewrite.  to solicit offers and accept bids. Potential buyers include Rogers Media, with 67 trade magazine titles, Transcontinental Media, with 53 titles and a previously expressed interest in expansion through acquisition, and SMIG's own management team.
