 NEW CHAIRMAN OF THE FIRM'S INTERNATIONAL DEPARTMENT
 MIAMI, Fla., March 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Partner George Mencio, Jr. has been appointed as the new head of the International Department for Holland & Knight, the 300-lawyer, Florida-based law firm. An experience trial attorney who is based in the firm's Miami office, Mencio concentrates his practice on the principal areas of aviation, maritime and international law.
 Mencio handles all types of litigation and transactional matters involving the transportation industry and international commercial transactions. His clients include major airlines, shipping concerns, cruise lines, common carriers, secured parties and numerous foreign- based clients engaged in business activities in the United States.
 "George Mencio is an outstanding lawyer who brings tremendous expertise and ability to our broad-based international practice," said Marty Steinberg, co-managing partner for the firm, which has eight offices in Florida and an office in Washington, D.C. "Because much of his practice has been international in nature, he is an excellent choice to lead our International Department. Mencio is a talented, high-energy individual who can effectively service our growing international practice."
 Mencio, who attended Florida International University, joined Holland & Knight following his graduation in 1981 from the University of Miami School of Law, where he served as Articles and Comments Editor of its "Law Review".
 Mencio is a member of the Florida Bar, the Trial Bar of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the United States District Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia and the United States Supreme Court.
 A resident of Coral Gables, he also is a member of the Dade County Bar Association, the Cuban American Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Southeastern Admirality Law Institute, and the Maritime Law Association of the United States.
