HOLIDAY INN WORLDWIDE ANNOUNCES LOCATION FOR NEW DATA CENTER
ATLANTA, Nov. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Holiday Inn Worldwide today announced the location of its new data center at the Windward Technology Park in Alpharetta, Ga.
The new Data Center is approximately 15 miles from the Ravinia Three office complex, where Holiday Inn Worldwide's new headquarters are located.
Construction of the new Holiday Inn Data Center is scheduled to begin on Dec. 2. Holder Properties, one of Atlanta's premier construction companies, has been selected as the developer. Holiday Inn will be the owner of this state-of-the-art office and computer center facility.
Installed in this facility will be Holiday Inn Worldwide's breakthrough satellite communication link, allowing the hotel chain to instantaneously communicate hotel room and rate information between North America and Europe.
The construction of the 41,500-square-foot building will take approximately five months. The installation of computer and satellite equipment is scheduled to take place in May and June. Computer & Network Operations and Technical and Customer Support Groups will be moved to the facility during June 1992. The new center should be fully operational by the end of July.
"Holiday Inn revolutionized hotel reservation systems when Holidex was introduced in 1965 and we have led the industry ever since," said Trevor Jones, senior vice president - Corporate Development for Holiday Inn Worldwide. "This new facility will allow us to continue expanding and improving our technology so we can remain leaders in our industry."
Holiday Inn Worldwide, which is owned by the UK's leading brewer Bass PLC, is the world's leading hotel chain, with more than 1,600 hotels and nearly 326,000 guest rooms in 51 countries and territories around the world.
