PALMDALE - Memorial Day observances are scheduled today at cemeteries This is a list of famous cemeteries, mausoleums and other places people are buried, world-wide. It may never be fully completed or, depending on its its nature, it may be that it can never be completed. However, new and revised entries in the list are always welcome.  in Lancaster, Palmdale and Quartz Hill.

In Palmdale, veterans organizations and youth groups will participate in the annual ceremony at 11 a.m. at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 2200 E. Ave. S Ave.

After the Desert Lawn services, a brief ceremony and flag dedication will follow at the nearby Palmdale Cemetery cemetery, name used by early Christians to designate a place for burying the dead. First applied in Christian burials in the Roman catacombs, the word cemetery came into general usage in the 15th cent.  on 20th Street East north of Avenue S.

In Lancaster, services will be held at 10 a.m. at Joshua Memorial Park, 808 E. Lancaster Blvd.

In Quartz Hill, a Roman Catholic Mass will be said by Bishop Joe Wilkerson at 10 a.m. at Good Shepherd Good Shepherd
