 HOECHST-ROUSSEL AGRI-VET COMPANY COMPLETES PURCHASE OF AMERICAN CYANAMID'S U.S. MARKETING RIGHTS FOR VIGILANTE INSECT GROWTH REGULATOR
 SOMERVILLE, N.J., March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Hoechst-Roussel Agri-Vet Company announced today that it has completed the purchase of the U.S. marketing rights of Vigilante (diflubenzuron) insect growth regulator for use in cattle from American Cyanamid Company (NYSE: ACY). Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
 Vigilante (diflubenzuron) is an orally administered, long-acting insect growth regulator with a unique delivery system. The product provides season-long control of hornflies and face flies.
 Hoechst-Roussel will begin marketing this product immediately.
 Newt Williams, vice president and general manager of the Hoechst- Roussel Animal Health Business Unit, said the purchase supports Hoechst- Roussel's long-term strategy to move into ectoparasite control.
 William J. Murray, president of Cyanamid Agricultural Division, said, "We decided to exit the Vigilante business in order to concentrate on our core businesses, feed additives and biologicals, and to prepare for our future growth with the endectocides and somatotropins."
 "While Vigilante did not fit with our long-term objectives, it does fit into Hoechst-Roussel's plans to expand their animal insecticide businesses," added Murray.
 Cyanamid is a biotechnology and chemical company that develops medical, agricultural and chemical products and manufactures and markets them throughout the world.
 Hoechst-Roussel is part of the Life Sciences Group of Hoechst Celanese Corporation. Hoechst Celanese is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hoechst AG of Frankfurt, Germany. The animal-health business of Hoechst-Roussel represents 20 percent of Hoechst AG's worldwide animal- health sales. Hoechst AG is the seventh largest supplier of animal- health products in the world.
