Society needs a home for its books and the Quartz Hill Town Council needs someone to take over ownership of the 112-year-old Godde House. Both parties have agreed to merge their needs, but it's going to be costly - the pioneer ranch needs a piece of land to sit on and about $20,000 to move and repair it. ``We're a historical group and to have an old building would be just ideal for us, more so than a new building,'' said Beverlee Gurel, president of the society. ``As one of the only remaining pioneer buildings in the Antelope Valley it has historical value as the type of home people lived in during that time period.'' The house was built by pioneer rancher Max Godde, one of three brothers who moved to the Antelope Valley to farm after emigrating from Germany, and was enlarged in later years.
