HISPANIC STUDENT ENGINEERS TO MEET AT XEROX CENTER
 LEESBURG, Va., July 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Work-force diversity,

implementing quality principles and customer satisfaction will be explored by Hispanic student engineers when the National Student Leadership Conference meets next month in Virginia.
Some 125 student chapter presidents of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and the Society of Mexican American Engineers and Scientists from around the country will focus on "Hispanics driving quality" during the conference Aug. 20-23 at the Xerox International Center for Training and Management Development here.
The idea behind this year's conference is to increase the number and caliber of Hispanic engineers from which corporations can recruit.
Tony De La Rosa, a vice president of the Hispanic Association for Professional Advancement and a Xerox engineer in El Segundo, Calif., said that by the year 2000, 85 percent of the eligible work force will be women, immigrants and minorities. "The challenge to corporate America is to fully incorporate this valuable human resource into work- force strategies," he added.
"The goals of this conference parallel those of the Xerox Corporation," said Paul A. Allaire, the Xerox chairman and chief executive officer. "For us, diversity goes beyond numbers and targets. It is the acceptance of people of all ages with globally diverse backgrounds whose ideas, opinions, perspectives and creativity enrich the lives of others."
Corporate sponsors will be supplying trainers to work with the conferees on work processes and tools used in corporations today in their quests for quality.
In addition to Xerox, other conference sponsors include AT&T, the Central Intelligence Agency, Chevron, Pacific Bell and Pacific Gas & Electric.
