HILTON HHONORS BREAKS THROUGH THE CLUTTER; NEW GUARANTEE ENSURES THE QUICKEST ROUTE TO REWARDS

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- To set the record straight once and for all on the superiority of its guest reward program, Hilton is issuing a guarantee that Hilton HHonors provides its members the fastest route to free travel rewards. From now through the end of 1994, Hilton will match competitive offers with a comparable HHonors reward ... guaranteed.
"No guest reward program is richer than Hilton HHonors," said Michael A. Ribero, Hilton's senior vice president of marketing. "Our loyal members can rest assured -- we guarantee the fastest route to the rewards travelers most want."
The Richest Reward Guarantee will run through the end of 1994. The guarantee follows on the heels of program revisions by some of Hilton's competitors that seriously limit a traveler's ability to earn both hotel and airline rewards.
"While other chains appear to be cutting back or changing their programs in ways that make their `currency' less valuable, Hilton is offering its HHonors members what they want most: better, faster rewards with the partners they use most," Ribero said. "Many programs force guests to choose between miles or points or offer only miles, while HHonors give travelers both -- the best of both worlds."
Hilton HHonors allows its members to Double Dip(SM) -- accumulate both hotel points and airline miles with each qualifying stay. This, together with Hilton's airline partner network, puts HHonors members on the fastest track to a complete, free vacation including free hotel and airfare.
"The HHonors program has enjoyed explosive growth -- despite the fact that, industry wide, business travel has been relatively flat for six years," Ribero said. "In the past year alone, we've had twice as many Double Dip stays as the prior year. At the same time, our membership has grown to nearly 3 million. We expect this trend to continue as travelers gravitate to the hotel company providing superior value, service and guest reward program benefits."
Hilton HHonors is a guest reward program designed for the frequent traveler who selects U.S. Hilton or international Conrad hotels as his or her hotel choice on business and pleasure trips. Enrolled members receive special privileges and can accumulate HHonors points and airline miles virtually every time they stay at a participating HHonors hotel.
The HHonors program features travel partnerships with the airlines travelers use most. Miles can be earned without flying with Air Canada, American Airlines, America West and United Airlines. Miles also can be earned with Delta Air Lines and USAir, when members fly in conjunction with their hotel stay.
Membership in HHonors is free. To enroll instantly or for more information or reservations, call 800-HILTONS.
The Richest Reward Guarantee covers the hotel guest reward programs offered by Hyatt, Holiday Inn, ITT Sheraton and Marriott. To take advantage of the guarantee, a member must meet the requirements of the other program with qualifying Hilton HHonors hotel stays. Then, they must send a letter to the Hilton Service Center, including a copy of the competitive program's terms and conditions, reward chart and proof of membership in that program, along with his or her Hilton HHonors account number. Hilton will then match the competitive reward with a comparable HHonors reward.
