``It really is a good family sport,'' said park owner Craig Lynch. ``It is far better for kids physically than basketball and baseball.'' Nearly two years ago, Lynch used his training and insight to establish the cycle park in an area he thought longed for motocross motocross

``I felt I could supply a nice facility that was family oriented and keep the cost family friendly, too,'' Lynch said.

So while Jordan's wife remained at home, Jamison, 6, and R.J., 8, teamed with their dad for a day of fun.

``Jamison just got a new bike and so we wanted to test it out,'' Jordan said. ``This has a good pee-wee track and is much better for the kids,'' Jordan said.

Lynch said although the winter was plagued with El Nino conditions, the park has far exceeded expectations and will continue to grow.

``We're in the middle of major improvements, but this is a very popular facility, it's ideal,'' he said.

The dream for Lynch is to establish the park as a national motocross track. Lynch said about 400 riders come out for competition and 200 show up for practice runs.

The park is located on Center Street and camping at the track over race weekends are free. It is open Mondays and Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to dusk and Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Race days are held Sundays.

``I know racing helped me to deal with peer pressure, so along with all the physical benefits this sport has, it is also an outlet,'' Lynch said.
