HIGHWAY CRASH VICTIMS NAMED FAMILY OF FOUR KILLED IN FIERY COLLISION.

MOJAVE - Four people killed last week by a wrong-way driver on Highway 58 have been identified as a San Bernardino San Bernardino, city, United States

 County family, officials said Tuesday.

Kern County coroners have identified the victims as Ralph Blea, 42, his companion, Amanda Smith, 31, and their two sons, Ralph, 6, and Michael, 4. The family lived in Apple Valley, a community about five miles east of Victorville.

The family was killed July 5 in a fiery two-car collision on Highway 58 about six miles east of Mojave. The driver of the Dodge has not yet been positively identified. Coroner's officials say they have information the man was from Las Vegas, but are waiting for dental records to confirm the identity.

The collision occurred about 5:50 a.m., just after sunrise.

 received 911 calls reporting a wrong-way driver about three miles away from the crash.

``We're still not sure where he got turned around - I don't know if we'll ever know,'' said CHP Officer Bobbi Record.

The nearest off-ramp where the motorist could have entered the freeway is in North Edwards, about 11 miles from the crash site, but there are dirt and paved crossover lanes connecting the highway's two sides across the 70-foot divider, officials said.
