Smith ran in from the 1 late in the first quarter for a 7-0 lead, and McElvaine also had a 1-yard score in the second quarter that broke a 7-7 tie. Highland added a second-quarter safety when Valencia snapped the ball out of the end zone for a 16-7 halftime lead.
