HIGHLAND KNOCKS OFF LITTLEROCK.

Byline: Gerry Gittelson Daily News Staff Writer

Quarterback Jeremy White completed 12 of 17 passes for 139 yards and a touchdown as host Highland (4-2, 1-0) handed Littlerock (5-1, 0-1) its first junior varsity football loss 21-15 Friday night in a Golden League game.

``Littlerock came in undefeated, but our kids just played real well,'' Highland coach Russ Tepper said. ``This was the best game we've played so far, so it was nice to get out of there with the win.''

White found receiver Robert Freeman for seven catches totaling 84 yards, including a 6-yard touchdown. Billy Gilman (87 yards, 14 carries) and Tyrone Brown (67 yards, 10 attempts) each added touchdown runs.

Antelope Valley 26, Quartz Hill 22: Michael Place sparked the big-play Antelopes, who stopped Quartz Hill on the AV 11-yard line in the last minute.

Place passed for 226 yards and two touchdowns, and added a 7-yard scoring run. The sophomore completed 12 of 16 - including touchdowns of 70 and 73 yards to Josh Walters - and added 67 yards rushing and seven tackles on defense.

``Michael played incredible,'' AV coach Brett Pape said. ``It was the best lower-level quarterback performance I've seen here in six years. He just did everything.''

AV suffered injuries to linemen Brian Villalba (arm) and Richard Ortiz (knee). Villalba is out for the season; Ortiz may be back in two weeks.

Palmdale 12, Lancaster 10: Darryl Murphy's 52-yard punt return and 23-yard touchdown reception paced host Palmdale (2-4, 1-0).

Durmarie Love-Jackson (20 tackles) and Ken Kauffman (key third-quarter interception) played big roles.

``We finally played a complete game on both sides of the ball,'' Palmdale coach John Livermont said. ``Lancaster was good, and we were a bit lucky to steal this one.''
