HIGHLAND GOES FOR 5TH WRESTLING TITLE TODAY.

Longtime Southern Section wrestling power Highland, denied a fourth consecutive Golden League championship this season, takes aim at a fifth section title today, when the Bulldogs and league champion Antelope Valley This article is about the Los Angeles County region. The Antelope Valley
 compete in the Div. V Dual Meet finals.

The 16-team competition, scheduled for an 11 a.m. start at Kaiser High in Fontana, includes defending champion defending champion n (SPORT) → defensor/a m/f del título

Royal has been ranked No. 1 in Div. V all season, is top-seeded in today's single-elimination championship tournament and will face Highland in the second round, should both teams win their opening matches.

Royal draws Montview League runner-up Azusa in the first round, and Highland starts against host Kaiser, the Sunkist League champion.

Antelope Valley, seeded third, opens against Los Padres

Highland won the Southern Section overall and Dual Meet titles in 1997 and added Div. VI Dual Meet titles in 2003 and 2004.

The Bulldogs also totaled a team-high 248 1/2 points in the seven-team competition that produced four postseason qualifiers at each weight. Antelope Valley finished second at 214 1/2, and Lancaster was third at 154 1/2.

``I was real proud of our effort,'' Young said. ``Teams, when the lose a big one late like that, can go two different directions - improve or cave in. They set the tone for this weekend, and I don't think we're through wrestling.

``We might not take it all, but i like to think we have a chance. I don't think I'd like to be any team wrestling us.''

--Six A.V. champs: Antelope Valley won six individual titles, including the first by four-year starter and three-year captain Eric Timson, who went 3-0 in the 140 weight class to improve to 30-3 for the season and 141-33 for his career.

Timson, who came within one victory of qualifying for the State Meet last year, had finished second in league the past three seasons.

Other A.V. league champions were Willie Carranza (103), Timothy Javines (145), Myron Castro (160), Justin Paulson (171) and Luis Michel (189).
