HIGH-SCORING GAMES.

A RECORD 78million video games have been sold in the UKthisyear, according to industry figures.

Gamers spent pounds 1.52billion in the first 50 weeks of the year, up 25 percent on a year ago, said Chart-Track.

The number of games sold was up 16.6percent, boosted by popular titles such as Halo 3 on the XBox 360 and Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii.

Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association's Paul Jackson said: "Interactive entertainment is now truly mass market."
