Under the program, the two new phones may be used by school security guards, parking lot monitors, adult crossing guards, playground supervisors, teachers and parents traveling with students on field trips, and other adults charged with students' safety, officials said. Before they received the two new phones on Monday, Moorpark High officials had seven cell phones, all used by athletics coaches. The athletics department bought the phones in the past year in response to injuries suffered by student athletes, said Assistant Principal David Baldwin. ``We had some injuries - not major ones - a twisted ankle, busted leg, that kind of thing,'' said Baldwin, who heads the school's athletic department. While the school was satisfied with its speed in getting the injured students treated, parents were not informed as quickly as desired, Baldwin said. So the athletics department decided to buy the seven cell phones to allow coaches to reach parents fast in the event of injuries to students or other important incidents, Baldwin said.
