HIGH SCHOOL SWIMMING NOTEBOOK: LOCALS TO LEAD SOCAL IN WESTERN ZONE.Byline: ERIK BOAL Special to the Daily News Six Canyons Aquatics swimmers played a major role last August in Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region, winning its third consecutive Western Zone championship. Two veterans from that group, along with three newcomers, will be counted on to have a big influence in Southern California's bid for a fourth straight title at this year's competition.
