HIGH SCHOOL SPOTLIGHT: SAME DYNASTY, DIFFERENT ERA ECR'S FIVE-PEAT MEASURES UP HISTORICALLY.

Byline: Erik Boal Special to the Daily News

Take a car ride on the 5400 block of Valley Circle Drive, and the blue and white signs are easy to locate.

Hanging from light posts staggered in front of El Camino Real El Camino Real (Spanish for The Royal Road or The King's Highway) was the name of a series of pre-automobile highways linking the various New World colonies of Spain:

It's an appropriate tribute to a school rich in academic tradition.

After Saturday night's performance at East L.A. College's Weingart Stadium Weingart Stadium (formerly ELAC Stadium) is a 20,355-seat multipurpose stadium located at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park, California. It was built in 1951 at a cost of $3.1 million and following renovations in 1984 it was renamed. , the Conquistadores girls' soccer team might want to lobby school administrators to have their recent run of dominance recognized in front of campus, too.

El Camino Real (20-3-1) claimed its fifth title in a row, tying Chatsworth's City record for consecutive crowns, with a 4-0 victory over Palisades Palisades, cliffs along the west bank of the Hudson River, NE N.J. and SE N.Y., extending from N of Jersey City, N.J., to the vicinity of Piermont, N.Y., with a general altitude of from 350 ft to 550 ft (107–168 m).  of Pacific Palisades in the City Section championship game. The Chancellors won five in a row from 1989 to 1993 and again from 1996 to 2000.

``This is a dominant team,'' said El Camino Real coach (and athletic director Athletic director (commonly, "athletics director") is a position at many American colleges and universities, as well as in larger high schools and middle schools, which oversees the work of the coaches and related staff involved in intercollegiate or interscholastic athletic ) Shanna Sarris, whose team improved to 101-12-8 since losing to San Pedro in the 2000 City semifinals. ``We have a deep bench, and everyone's at that level where I can feel comfortable putting them in, no matter the situation. We have a talented pool of girls, and, I think, even with the seniors we lose, we'll be equally talented next year.

``I remember watching Chatsworth when they were a dynasty An application development system for enterprise client/server environments from Dynasty Technologies, Inc., Houston, TX (www.dynasty.com). These girls are their own dynasty. We just hope to be looked at the same way as they were.''

Along with extending the latest soccer dynasty in Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region, , the Conquistadores kept pace with the school's boys' tennis team, which is aiming for its sixth consecutive title this spring. Although El Camino Real's softball softball, variant of baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field. Invented (1888) in Chicago as an indoor game, it was at various times called indoor baseball, mush ball, playground ball, kitten ball, and, because it was also played by women, ladies'  team has won 12 titles, its wrestling program 10 and its baseball team four, only the girls' soccer and boys' tennis programs have won five in a row.

soccer is such an awesome thing to be a part of. It's an honor to be part of this program,'' said defender Ashley Zwoyer, who won four titles with the Conquistadores, as did Nikki Walberg. ``It's the greatest feeling ever to end my career with another title. Chatsworth had a dynasty, but I don't even think about Chatsworth because I wasn't around when they won all of theirs.''

Walberg and Zwoyer, both senior captains, said most pivotal to this year's success was that El Camino Real didn't have to rely on one player. Kandice McLaughlin - last year's City Section and Daily News Player of the Year - was the central figure in El Camino Real's first four championships; she and Jennifer Stadheim were the program's first two players to win four titles.

``This is the closest team I've ever been on,'' said Walberg, who led El Camino Real with 24 goals. ``We didn't have a superstar this year, but we had a lot of great players.''

One of those athletes, junior captain Katie Oakes, demonstrated Saturday that the Conquistadores will be in good hands after Walberg, Zwoyer, Jen Smuckler and Keirstin Kane graduate.

With Oakes and Niki Connolly, a junior forward, carrying the offense during the postseason, El Camino Real outscored five opponents 32-3. Saturday's victory was the Conquistadores' 23rd in a row in the playoffs and extended their unbeaten streak to 19 games.

Oakes believes El Camino Real, which returns 14 players next season, has yet to play its best soccer.

``There's no other way to go, really,'' said Oakes, who spent the first half of the season as the team's sweeper, then developed into a dominant central midfielder

during West Valley League play and the playoffs. ``We've talked every year about how Chatsworth has still won way more titles than we have, so there is more work for us to do.''

El Camino Real's ability to handle the pressure of playing every game since 2001 with a target on its back has impressed Caitlyn MacKechnie. The UCLA-bound midfielder led the region's other girls' soccer dynasty, Oaks Christian of Westlake Village (20-2-5), to its third consecutive Southern Section Div. ``The hardest part is dealing with the pressure,'' said MacKechnie, whose team finished its season with a 16-game unbeaten streak. ``When you're the defending champion defending champion n (SPORT) → defensor/a m/f del título

The teams were scheduled to meet Feb. 7 at Oaks Christian, but rainouts forced El Camino Real to cancel the intersectional showdown so it could make up a league game.

The coaches are talking about scheduling a game for next season, when Oaks Christian will focus on trying to win a fourth - and first outright - title and El Camino Real will concentrate on winning an unprecedented sixth consecutive championship.

``Right after the game, we talked about the commitment and the pride and the intensity that we need to have to win a sixth title,'' Oakes said. ``This feels really good, but I think we have yet to play up to our full potential.''
