HIGH SCHOOL NOTEBOOK: OAKWOOD SENIOR GETS INTO SECTIONALS.

A high school season of nothing but practice paid off again Tuesday for Oakwood of North Hollywood senior Ben Fox, who shot 6-under-par 65 at Rio Hondo Rio Hondo may refer to:
  • Río Hondo, a town in the Guatemalan department of Zacapa.
  • Rio Hondo (Belize), a river which forms much of the border between Belize and Mexico.
  • Rio Hondo (California), a tributary of the Los Angeles River in the U.S. state of California.
 Golf Club in Downey to win the Southern Section's annual qualifying tournament for players without a high school team.

 season debut advanced Fox to the first round of the section individual tournament, scheduled for May 16 at River Ridge River Ridge is the name of more than one location.
  • River Ridge, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans, Louisiana
  • Trinity School at River Ridge, a private school in Bloomington, Minnesota
  • River Ridge High School, name of five public secondary schools in the United States
 Golf Club in Oxnard.

This was the third time in as many attempts Fox has won the section qualifier at Rio Hondo.

Piper, who finished 69-68 to make up six strokes and briefly lead before Hoffenberg (72-71) counter-rallied to win his second consecutive league title, placed second in a weekend junior tournament in Palm Desert.

Piper's 1-under-par 72-69 in the International Junior Golf Tour event at Shadow Ridge Resort left Piper three shots back of winner Spencer Anderson of Pacific Palisades Palisades, cliffs along the west bank of the Hudson River, NE N.J. and SE N.Y., extending from N of Jersey City, N.J., to the vicinity of Piermont, N.Y., with a general altitude of from 350 ft to 550 ft (107–168 m).  in the boys' 16-18 age division.

Hoffenberg recorded his sixth 2005 round in the 60s on Tuesday by shooting 4-under-par 68 as Royal swept Moorpark and Calabasas in a league match at Moorpark Country Club.

--Foothill's finest: First-place Hart of Newhall holds a 2 1/2-point lead over Burroughs of Burbank, and Hart's Joe Greiner Nick Delio of Saugus share the individual scoring lead going into today's final Foothill League team tournament, scheduled for 8 a.m. at Griffith Park Griffith Park is a large public park at the eastern end of the Santa Monica Mountains.
