Kang was the medalist at the Northern Divisonal two weeks ago, shooting a 3-under 68 at Sterling Hills. He qualified for this morning's tournament with an even-par 72 in Solvang. Scher, the Mission League individual winner, also qualified with a 72. ``He handles himself very well.'' Harvard-Westlake coach Scott Wood said of Scher. ``He hit one ball in water and then hit one out of bounds, but he maintained his composure com·po·sure n.
