``We were like, `Wait a second, don't we have a game tomorrow?' '' Thomas said.

For the record, North Torrance won't be playing Lompoc.

As a result of Crespi's stunning 25-8 upset of the two-time defending section champion Braves on Saturday, the Celts (10-3) will play host to North Torrance (12-1) in the Div. In effectively containing a Delaware wing-T offense it hadn't seen all season, Crespi handed Lompoc (12-1) its first loss in 24 games, ending what had been the section's longest active streak.

``It's just so great to upset a team like this and be where we are now,'' said Crespi junior quarterback Matt Wabby, who was involved in all three Crespi touchdowns (one passing and two rushing).

Randle Harris rushed for 114 yards on 20 carries for Crespi. Martin Ciccolini had two interceptions, giving him 11 this season.

Clausen, playing only in the first half, passed for 279 yards and another four touchdowns - raising his single-season, school-record total to 55 - as the Lions roared out to a 42-0 lead in the first half.

They nearly added another quick score at the start of the second half, but Marc Tyler's 100-yard kickoff return was called back because of a penalty.

Tyler, like Clausen, also thrived in the first half with four touchdowns to raise his school single-season record total to 27. He scored on runs of 1 and 2 yards and passes of 25 and 39 from Clausen.

It helped because the second half was played with a running clock and in rain, but Clausen said there was no plan to score quickly because of the forecast for rain.

``We weren't worried about it,'' said the 6-foot-3 first-year starter, who has passed for 3,362 yards and 55 touchdowns this season with just six interceptions.

Clausen raised his completion percentage to .696 by going 20 of 28 against Nordhoff.

``We knew if we came out and did like we did in the first half, the rain would not be a factor,'' Clausen said. ``We really worked hard this week preparing for Nordhoff ... and we're really excited about playing next week against Oak Park, our rivals from down the street.''
