Earlier, Crespi defeated Stratford (Texas) 26-7 in the semifinals.

Howell commits to Stanford: Hart High of Newhall running back/defensive back Delano Howell, one of California's top returning all-purpose standouts, has committed to Stanford after being informed he had met the university's entrance requirements.

As a junior, Howell rushed for 1,491 yards and scored 37 touchdowns.

Howell is the area's second player to commit to Stanford, following Chris Owusu, a receiver from Oaks Christian of Westlake Village.
