HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: TEAMS FACE FAMILIAR FOES N.D., CRESPI, OAKS CHRISTIAN TOP SEEDS.Byline: Erik Boal Special to the Daily News Several area football coaches won't have to look much further than their own film libraries when it comes to scouting their first-round opponents in the Southern Section playoffs. When the pairings were released Sunday, familiarity was the theme, as many local teams were paired up with opponents they played, in most cases, the past two postseasons. There were even two playoff matchups involving area teams that played each other earlier in the regular season. In Div. IV, Pacific View League champion Camarillo will play host to Agoura, the Marmonte League's fourth-place entry, in a rematch REMATCH Cardiology Clinical trials–Randomized Evaluation of Mechanical Assistance Therapy as an alternative in Congestive Heart failure–related to use of a portable, electric left ventricular-assist system–LVAS–eg, HeartMate® of a Sept. 16 game won 22-7 by Agoura. Rosamond and Desert Christian of Lancaster will play in a Div A DIV Associate of Divinity . XII first-round contest. Third-seeded Rosamond defeated Desert Christian 45-6 on Oct. 7. ``We try to look at whether or not teams played each other earlier in the season, and we also look at past first-round opponents when trying to place teams in the bracket,'' Southern Section assistant commissioner Rob Wigod said. ``But we're not going to sacrifice the integrity of the draw just to avoid creating any repeats (of this year or last year's playoffs).'' Notre Dame Notre Dame IPA: [nɔtʁ dam] is French for Our Lady, referring to the Virgin Mary. In the United States of America, Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks (Div. III), Crespi of Encino (Div. X) and Oaks Christian of Westlake Village (Div. XI), all of which are defending division champions, were awarded top seeds. Six other area teams - Canyon of Canyon Country and Hart of Newhall in Div. II, Moorpark and Thousand Oaks Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. XI and Rosamond in Div. XII - also received top-four seeds. Hart, which lost to Canyon 16-14 in Thursday's regular-season finale, dropped from second in the final regular-season rankings to the fourth seed and will play host to Glendora in a rematch of last year's opening-round game, won by the Indians 35-14. Canyon, which won its first Foothill League title, will play host to Damien of La Verne La Verne (lə vûrn), city (1990 pop. 30,897), Los Angeles co., S Calif., a suburb of Los Angeles; inc. 1906. La Verne, which began as a citrus-processing center, now has varied manufacturing, including electronic components, apparel, hand - a team it beat 40-36 in the 2003 quarterfinals - in the first round. The Cowboys could also face league counterpart Valencia, last year's division runner-up, in the semifinals. Like the Foothill League in Div. II, the Mission League was recognized by the seeding committee as the toughest in Div. III, and it reflected in the first-round opponents for second-place Chaminade of West Hills and third-place St. Francis of La Canada Flintridge. ``I thought there was an outside shot they might seed Chaminade (in the top four) after the way they played Notre Dame, but I'm happy they showed our league some respect,'' said St. Francis coach Jim Bonds, whose team plays at Downey. Notre Dame's game against Lynwood is a rematch of the Knights' 48-45, quadruple-overtime victory in the 2003 quarterfinals. Chaminade defeated Arcadia 56-32 in the first round that same year. Oaks Christian's first-round opponent in Div. XI, Twentynine Palms, was a team the Lions defeated 71-12 in the 2003 quarterfinals.
