. He posted $5,000 bail and was released from jail after three days.

``I purposefully left him in there for three days so he could sit in there and think about everything,'' said Giuliani's father, Mike. ``He had a chance to look at the other side of the world and see what he doesn't want to be a part of, and what he isn't a part of. He just has to realize that he can't get into these altercations.''

The district attorney decided to file lesser misdemeanor charges on June 1. The remainder of the arraignment A criminal proceeding at which the defendant is officially called before a court of competent jurisdiction, informed of the offense charged in the complaint, information, indictment, or other charging document, and asked to enter a plea of guilty, not guilty, or as otherwise permitted  was postponed to July 3.

guy, and he understands the situation,'' Whittingham said. ``He's going to be held accountable for his actions. We're a disciplined program, and we don't tolerate players stepping out of line.''

A current Oaks Christian football player, who was not identified because he is a minor, also was arrested on suspicion of felony battery. Miller continues to investigate and said that further arrests are possible.

The fight began at a birthday party for two Oak Park students on a Saturday night and moved to a second location. Miller said approximately 18 people were involved in the fight, the majority being adults. Three were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries following the incident.

``There's not a good explanation for it,'' Miller said. ``Basically, it was two rival parties. Words were exchanged and they had problems.''

Oaks Christian defensive back Marshall Jones, a top prospect being recruited by USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code. , was involved in the fight and needed to receive stitches, according to sources. Jones has hired attorney David S. Kestenbaum.

``It's way too soon for us to make any comment,'' Kestenbaum said. ``Because he's a juvenile, it's confidential. I think when the dust clears, he should be standing tall.''

The rivalry between Oak Park and Oaks Christian, two Tri-Valley League teams, began soon after Oaks Christian opened in 1999. Kyle McClure, a top defensive lineman who later accepted a scholarship to Cal, transferred from Oak Park to the new school after his freshman year.

The day after the fight, Oak Park coach Dick Billingsley addressed his team at spring practice.

``I announced to the team that there is not to be trouble,'' Billingsley said.

Oaks Christian coach Bill Redell said he would decide on any disciplinary actions within his team after the investigation is over and he knows all the facts.
