HI T.E.Q. Mini-Melter[TM] brings melting productivity to the die casting station.USER--A second-generation, family-owned, aluminum and zinc zinc, metallic chemical element; symbol Zn; at. no. 30; at. wt. 65.38; m.p. 419.58°C;; b.p. 907°C;; sp. gr. 7.133 at 25°C;; valence +2. Zinc is a lustrous bluish-white metal. It is found in Group 12 of the periodic table. alloy alloy (ăl`oi, əloi`) [O. Fr.,=combine], substance with metallic properties that consists of a metal fused with one or more metals or nonmetals. die casting die casting Forming metal objects by injecting molten metal under pressure into dies or molds. An early and important use of the technique was in the Linotype machine (1884), but the mass-production automobile assembly line gave die casting its real impetus. shop in New Jersey has operated for more than 50 years, offering jobbing services. OPERATION--This company produces castings from 1/2 oz. to 6 lbs., cast, machined and finished. For aluminum melting, it operates a HI T.E.Q. Mini-Melter[TM] high efficiency, refractory refractory Material that is not deformed or damaged by high temperatures, used to make crucibles, incinerators, insulation, and furnaces, particularly metallurgical furnaces. lined furnace furnace, enclosed space for the burning of fuel. There are many kinds of furnaces, the type depending upon the fuel and the use to which the heat produced within it is put. Most familiar are the furnaces used in the heating of buildings. as well as a crucible crucible, vessel in which a substance is heated to a high temperature, as for fusing or calcining. The necessary properties of a crucible are that it maintain its mechanical strength and rigidity at high temperatures and that it not react in an undesirable way with furnace. PROBLEM--Previously, the company melted with an old style dry-hearth furnace that was unable to maintain a precise temperature, used gas inefficiently and suffered from excessive oxide formation and oxide penetration into its refractory lining. SOLUTION--The company purchased its HI T.E.Q. Mini-Melter[TM] furnace 1 1/2, years ago to solve its melting problems. The Mini-Melter[TM] furnace was compact enough to be located at the casting station, producing 500 lbs. of aluminum per hour. Its dual-chamber design provided high metal quality, high efficiency and metal temperature precision of [+ or -] 4 degrees F. BENEFITS--The HI T.E.Q. furnace did not suffer from the unacceptable oxide formation that plagued the old-style dry-hearth furnace and is operating today with its original lining. The Mini-Melter's separate melting and holding chambers allow the gas to the melting chamber to be shut off when the furnace is idle, while temperature is maintained in the holding well.
