HEY, SO YOU SAW ELVIS ... WHERE?

Last week, we asked readers to tell us of any Elvis sightings Elvis sightings are a recurring phenomenon in which people claim to see American singer and rock star Elvis Presley, who died on August 16, 1977. Background
Presley was born in January 1935, so his projected age would not preclude the possibility that Elvis is still

It is often credited to the Sententiae of Publilius Syrus, and roughly translates as

of Elvis with Mick or Keith, however. It looks like he is showing up in some weird places. We are a little dubious about some of the sightings, but we'll let you decide.

Woodland Hills - Elvis was recently sighted in this small West Valley community hanging out with two other well-known, but deceased, celebrities: Marilyn Monroe and James Dean Noun 1. James Dean - United States film actor whose moody rebellious roles made him a cult figure (1931-1955)

personnel at Happy Memories Collectibles say Elvis and his friends appeared to have been reincarnated as limited-edition collector cookie jars. This confirms other reports that these same well-known icons have occasionally been spotted in kitchens and cookie jar collections across the country. However, unlike the fleeting glimpses of earlier reports, Elvis appeared to enjoy just hanging out and being photographed with his friends.

I work as a food service stand attendant at Universal Studios. About a week ago, I was working on a churro chur·ro

cart near the Blues Brothers' stage, when I turned around and saw a guest dressed as ``Vegas Elvis.'' He then sat down at one of the tables in the front and enjoyed the Blues Brothers' show. Even the actors on stage noticed him and made some references to the King, but I was too busy to hear what they were saying.

One night this past winter, probably a little after 1 a.m., a buddy of mine and I stopped at a restaurant just a little ways south of Bakersfield to get something to eat. Just one other booth was occupied, by a late middle-aged couple - a man looking like he was in his early 60s, a woman maybe five years or so younger. The man was either Elvis or else something more than just a spitting image spitting image

 of him.

We were not more than 10 or 12 feet from this couple for about 45 minutes. Once in awhile, the man would look over; he nodded at us once - it was the kind of nod that said he was who we thought he was, nothing more, nothing less. When he got up to pay his tab, he walked right by our table and looked at us with a look of friendliness and frank appreciation that we hadn't interrupted his meal, a look that said, ``Thanks for your reserve'' and, ``Yes, I am who you think I am.''

It was probably pushing 1:45 when this man and the woman with him left the restaurant.

When we had first been watching this guy, we were chuckling a little - Elvis with a good-looking woman out in the valley fog in the middle of the night. After three-quarters of an hour, and all the guy's manners and expressions are pure Elvis and nothing but Elvis - then it's kind of not something you chuckle about; not at all.

Although I am not a believer in the myth, I had an Elvis sighting in the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

. As I was riding my bike to work on a day during the month of July, I spotted ``Elvis'' who appeared to be a little more than slightly overweight and in his late 40s or early 50s. Good luck in your continuous efforts to track the King.

I saw Elvis at a club, Bucky's County Line, on Ventura Boulevard Ventura Boulevard is one of the primary east-west thouroughfares in the San Fernando Valley; as it was originally a part of the El Camino Real (the trail between Spanish missions), Ventura Boulevard is the oldest route in the San Fernando Valley. It was also U.S.  in Tarzana. He got up and sang a few songs. He also said he had been in Frankfurt, Germany, via Graceland to California.
